Days Play Database System
To take things a step further we now have a database system using Microsoft Access that handles most of the tedious work of scheduling play and scoring games. Our day's play is on Monday's and players sign up by text or email by 6 PM the prior Wednesday. The database application has a drop down menu to select those who sign up and has a matrix to track how many times players have played with other players so tee groups can be assigned to create opportunities for every member to play with every other member at least once. The tee group list is then posted to the website. On Monday mornings players check in and pay their fees. They then play in their assigned groups, adjusting as needed at the turn for 9 hole players dropping out. After they finish, they turn in their scorecards which are collected and entered into the database. The scheduled game is selected and a report is generated showing the winners.
Since we have the database of all day's play scorecards we then have the ability to produce a number of year end reports like eagles, birdies, lowest gross and lowest net. In addition we have a report called "How Low Can You Go?" that looks at all rounds for a given player and shows the average and best score that player has had on each hole. It allows a player to see her lowest round as well as what that lowest round might have been if all the best scores had been scored in a single round.
Following are screen prints of some of the forms used in the database.
