It’s up to each of us to know the rules of the game. There are a number of resources available to learn rules and it’s helpful to carry a rule book in your bag or download the USGA Rules of Golf to your cell phone. If you go to www.OGA.org and click on the Rules tab and then select Rules Quizzes you can learn a lot by testing yourself. I recommend you start with the Basic rules if you don't want to get too discouraged.
If you’re unsure in a situation, ask playing partners. If no one knows for sure, the rules do allow for you to play two balls from any position on the course. When the round is done you can find out which ball was played by the correct rule and keep that score. There is no penalty for doing that. Some of the most often used rules in our play are reviewed in Common Rules.
The OGA provides a monthly newsletter to Club Handicap Chairs. This newsletter includes a monthly rules quiz. . to see the OGA rules quiz go to http://oga.org/rules/rule-month
